Short-Term Commitment: Make a significant impact in a short timeframe, covering the week of September 16th-20th for 8 hours per day.
Independent Practice: Enjoy the autonomy of a solo practice environment while collaborating with consulting pathologists at a nearby sister hospital (45 minutes away with courier service available).
Focus on Patient Care: Maximize your time spent interpreting cases with a manageable daily volume of 10-15, with a focus on small GI biopsies and notable GYN pathology (approximately 1 cancer case per week).
Minimal Call: Enjoy a predictable work-life balance with very rare after-hours call and non-existent weekend call.
Professional Development: Participate in regular tumor boards and breast pretreatment conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements (CME opportunity).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform grossing and interpretation of a variety of anatomic and clinical pathology specimens.
- Collaborate effectively with consulting pathologists at the sister hospital when needed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the Cerner EMR system.
Qualifications for Success:
- Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABP).
- Fellowship preferred, but not mandatory.
- Valid California medical license to practice medicine without restrictions.
- Current certification in ACLS to demonstrate your commitment to patient safety.
- Experience with grossing is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and independent work environment.
